PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA:On Saturday October 20, 2007 the Friends of the Occoquan conducted their Fall Cleanup of the Occoquan Watershed. Due to draught conditions, the receded water created an opening with an average width of 100 feet on each side of the river. Since we were unable to launch boats, volunteers had to walk along the open area, which was muddy due to Friday night’s rain. Pictures show devoted volunteers with wet and mud covered pants and shoes. Over 205 volunteers combed the banks of the Occoquan River picking up trash and other debris.
